INFORMATION

AT BCD SPORTS, WE HAVE A GREAT TEAM OF CONSULTANTS WITH BOTH EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE WHO CAN DESIGN YOUR RUGBY WORLD CUP 2019™ ITINERARY TO SUIT YOUR INTERESTS. THE ONLY STIPULATION IS BCD SPORTS CANNOT SUPPLY MATCH TICKETS ON THEIR OWN.

We are contracted by All Blacks Tours as a Sub-Agent for Rugby World Cup 2019™ with the ability to sell match ticket packages with flights and / or accommodation (relative to the date of the match).

If you want to travel earlier and 'do your own thing' for a period before joining your RWC 2019™ arrangements, we have the staff to assist you to get you to where you want to be and to work on your plans for a memorable adventure. Alternatively, if you would like to stay on in Japan, explore outside of Tokyo or venture further afield our team can assist.

Pre & Post Suggestions...

  • Stay on for additional Rugby World Cup™ matches
  • Okinawa - A Japanese beach island resort with outstanding diving
  • Onsen & The Snow Monkeys - experience a ryokan (traditional Japanese accommodation) whilst visiting the amazing snow monkeys of Yudanaka
  • Head to Tokyo a day or two earlier and spend a day venturing to Mount Fuji & Hakone
  • Alternatively, explore further afield - Taipei, Seoul, Thailand, Beijing, Hawaii...The list goes on!

Each Supporters Tour will have a Tour Host assigned to travel with the group and lead the way. They will assist with the tour organisation, checking into hotels, getting to / from the match, sightseeing advice, dining suggestions and to provide personal assistance in case of ill health or emergencies. Our Host is not a Tour Guide as such, however they will have a good general knowledge of the places you will visit and will be happy to share this with you. Details of our Hosts will be advised in due course.

Our Supporters Tours will include more of the luxuries you would come to expect when travelling on a long tour such as daily breakfast, sightseeing tours and suggestions in various cities.

For the more independent traveller we have included some 'No Frills Packages'. These packages provide you with the minimum requirements but enable you to explore Japan on your own, you may have lived in Japan before, have friends up there or simply be confident leading your own adventure - these packages are perfect for you.

The hotels are 3.5* properties, somewhere to simply lay your head for a few hours at the end of the day before another big day of exploring.

These packages will not have a dedicated host but our BCD Sports afterhours phone number is always available should you need assistance in case of an emergency.

At this stage, flights are out of system range meaning we are unable to book and confirm any flight arrangements for travellers until 1 year prior to the travel date.

BCD Sports enjoy strong relationships with a range of airlines including but not limited to Emirates (the preferred airline of Rugby World Cup 2019™), Air New Zealand, Cathay Pacific, Hawaiian Airlines, Qantas, Singapore Airlines and more. We will be drawing on these relationships to get the best airfare and routing to suit your individual needs.

Flights are not included in our packages to enable you the flexibility to choose the carrier and routing to best suit your plans. Why not enjoy a stopover in Hawaii on your journey or spend a few days relaxing in Singapore on your way home. The options are endless.

Our team will keep you informed on flight information as we get closer to the time, in the meantime, we strongly recommend booking your spot on the tour and we can add on flights at a later stage.

Pricing varies around major events such as Rugby World Cup™ and an increase in airfares can be expected, we are estimating most economy class flights will be around $1,500 - $1,800 per person including taxes. This price is an estimate only and subject to change.

All hotels included in the Packages and Tours in this website have been (or will have been) inspected by our BCD Sports staff or Japan based Agents to ensure they measure up to our own high standards.

For the Supporters Tours and Corporate Package the hotels vary from 3* - 4* in order to meet everyone's travel preferences. We have sought location as a key factor and have ensured wherever you are, getting around will be easy.

Stated Prices

Prices of our RWC2019 tours are in New Zealand dollars and are on a “per person” basis.  Prices are for payment by internet banking, by cash or personal / bank cheque. Credit card fees have not been costed into the tour prices. For payment by credit card see DEPOSITS & PAYMENTS below.  All prices include Japanese JCT, if any (JCT rates are subject to change, if this increases the additional costs will be passed on to travelers). Prices include tariffs, royalties and fees payable to secure guaranteed early access to official match tickets from All Black Tours. Due to possible currency fluctuations and changes in supplier/service costs, prices are subject to variation at any time until full payment is received.  Please note that for contractual reasons prices cannot be itemised out.

Prices quoted are subject to currency fluctuations between the NZ Dollar and the Japanese Yen from the time the components were priced (March 2018) up until all the final payments are made to our suppliers in Japan (April 2019). Over that year, payments will be made in Yen to Japan at regular intervals and at fluctuating exchange rates. BCD Sports has a foreign currency policy which includes taking forward contracts for a portion of our liability. However, this offers only partial cover, so any major fluctuation in the NZ Dollar v Yen rate over the next year will affect the final price charged, either up or down.

Exchange Rates

The exchange rates used to price the tours for this event were current as at 10 March 2018.  Should there be a shift in the NZ dollar rate against the Japanese Yen, adjustments to the tour price may have to be passed onto the client up until full payment has been received by BCD Travel.

We have opted for a change from the norm where normally operators for Rugby Supporters Tours try to fill large coaches, whereas we have opted for smaller groups. This will pay off in so many ways for the group - getting on / off coaches, getting bags to rooms, getting to know each other and if the group want to dine out together this will be much simpler in a smaller group.

Our BCD Sports team have had many years of experience in organising and operating very successful sporting and special interest tours. One of the key ingredients is the social aspect of Kiwis on tour together, having a great time as a group with lots of laughter, making new friends and renewing old acquaintances. It is true, that when you get a group of Kiwis away on tour, it often only takes a day or two before everyone has figured out that they know someone who knows someone, went to the same school or have similar families, businesses or interests. New Zealand is a village after all!

We expect that our tours will be made up of couples, friends and solo travellers, both male and female. Our tours are a safe, hassle-free experience and once 'on the road', everyone looks out for one another to ensure no one is left out. Our tours are about having fun and being inclusive, no matter where you are from or what your story is.

The Official Travel Programme for RWC 2019™ has access to category B and C match tickets, which are to be packaged with flights and / or accommodation around the key match dates.

Please note there are no category A tickets available through the Official Travel Programme. Category A tickets are only included in the Official Hospitality Programme.

Please be aware, that BCD Sports has no control over the ticket positions, pricing or perceived quality. We have not been advised where category positions are and we do not expect to have this information prior to receiving our tickets a few weeks out from the tournament. For this reason, BCD Sports cannot be held responsible when match ticket seating positions and perceived quality does not meet the expectations of our customer. Having said that, some people might say that every seat at the final is a good one!

Japan has one of the most efficient, safe and easy to navigate public transport systems in the world. Electronic signs often switch between English & Japanese displaying place names, minutes to the destination and more to make your journey easier.

For major sporting events, by far the majority of patrons use public transport to and from the Stadiums. This avoids traffic congestion and is often a faster way to travel. In Japan, BCD Sports has included a pre-paid travel card in our packages. More information on this will come in due course.

If you are planning to attend the semi-finals and the final on one of our No Frills Packages, you have the wonderful opportunity to leave Tokyo for a few days and explore further afield. With places like Hakone, Kyoto, Osaka, Fukuoka and more only a short journey away, why not take the opportunity to venture out of Tokyo and experience more of this stunning country. Or, simply spend these days in Tokyo relaxing, shopping, sightseeing or taking a day tour to the famous Mt Fuji which will provide a breath of fresh (and crisp!) air at this time of year.

BCD Sports will have options for you to consider or can tailor make a side trip to suit.

RWC2019-Match-Schedule-Dates

New Zealand are in pool B along with our old rival South Africa and Six-Nations competitor Italy, both of whom will provide good challenges for us with the first and second placed teams proceeding onto the quarter-finals.

New Zealand opens their RWC 2019™ campaign at Japan's International Stadium Yokohama (approximately 45 minutes by bullet train from Tokyo Station) on Saturday, September 21, 2019 at 18:45 against old foe South Africa. Our men in black then have a short breather before their next match against Repechage 1 on Wednesday, October 02, 2019 at 19:15 at Oita Stadium. Only four days later New Zealand take on Africa 1 on Sunday, October 06, 2019 at 13:45 at Tokyo Stadium. New Zealand's final pool match will be against Italy on Saturday, October 12, 2019 at 13:45 at City of Toyota Stadium.

The quarter-finals are to be played at Oita Stadium in Oita and at Tokyo Stadium in Tokyo. The Winner of pool B (hopefully New Zealand) plays the Runner Up of pool A at Tokyo Stadium on Saturday, October 19, 2019 at 19:15. The Runner Up in pool B plays the Winner of pool A on Sunday, October 20, 2019 at 19:15 also at Tokyo Stadium.

The other quarter-final matches are to be played at Oita Stadium on Saturday, October 19, 2019 at 16:15 and Sunday, October 20, 2019 at 16:15. These matches are between the Winner and Runner Up teams in pool C and pool D.

The first semi-final is to be played at International Stadium Yokohama on Saturday, October 26, 2019 at 17:00 between the Winner of QF1 and the Winner of QF2 (hopefully New Zealand). The second semi-final is again to be played at International Stadium Yokohama on Sunday, October 27, 2019 at 18:00.

The loser of each semi-final plays in the bronze final at Tokyo Stadium on Friday, November 01, 2019 at 18:00.

The final will be played between the two winners of the semi-finals at International Stadium Yokohama on Saturday, November 02, 2019 at 18:00. This will be followed by the presentation of The Webb Ellis Cup to the winning Captain and his team.

Over the course of the six week tournament, matches will be played at various stadiums around Japan.

The RWC 2019™ semi-finals and the final will be held at International Stadium Yokohama, the same stadium that played host to the FIFA World Cup Final in 2002. With a capacity of 72,000, this stadium is a great location for the final and although it was built 16 years ago, it is still in great shape with very easy access from the nearby Yokohama Rail Station. The walkways and large concourses are ideally set-up to host such a large scale event.
